Christmas greetings to you! I look forward with anticipation in this season for the message of hope it brings to our hungry world. Jesus’ birth ushers in the hope that helps us see beyond our today and our present circumstance.
Yet I know that for many women to whom I write this letter, it is a struggle to find hope, because in the midst of a celebration of all that is good in family and tradition, it can be a painful reminder when our own circumstances are fragile and our future unknown.
Because I’ve lived it, I know this can be a lonely time even as family and friends have drawn near with invitations and special events. I pray that you resist the temptation to stay away, to retreat into yourself. It is in isolation our enemy will work to undo the progress you have made. The loneliness, and wanting for it to be ‘over’ can cause us to make short sighted decisions.
For many, you’re waiting and watching to know if you can trust again. Some are in the midst of a separation, some divorce. If you have been following God’s promptings for direction in these journeys, I encourage you to take hope in that because He is with you and He will lead you to a good place. Even though neither you or I can know right now what that destination is, you can dare to hope because He is with you. You can dare to stand firm in that hope.
Here’s a song I love; I want to share with you. Many of you are familiar with this beautiful tune. This video version focuses on the lyrics and I pray they speak to you as they do to me. It’s not a Christmas song, but its message is timeless, as much for our circumstances, as for those that were drawn to the arrival of the Christ child, for the hope He would overcome the darkness they faced in their world.
My prayer is that God will bring hope to your heart as you keep your eyes fixed on His love for you, and not on the present and temporary circumstances. I pray that you experience His healing and restoration in every aspect of your life.
God bless you and your home,
For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. — John 3:17
